Financial Aid & Merit Based Scholarship 

Admiral Farragut Academy is committed to attracting diverse, motivated, and talented students of strong character. We believe enrollment should be open to all qualified applicants, not just to those who can pay full tuition. We offer options for families such as merit- and need-based scholarships and payment plan programs.


What We Offer


Scholarships and financial aid awards are limited. We encourage families to begin the process as early as possible. The scholarship amount awarded is not guaranteed and may differ from year to year based on need and availability of funds. Families/students are required to reapply each year.

Families may use one of the scholarships listed below that they may have acquired through the State of Florida.

  • Step Up For Students- Awards vary by students grade level and required academic support. For more information, please visit the Step Up for Students Website as it changes annually.

These scholarships are not provided nor managed by Admiral Farragut Academy and do not cover the full amount of tuition.  Applicants to Farragut must meet all guidelines and requirements for admission.

Domestic Based Families who file Tax Returns in the United States of America:

  • Deadline Date: March 1, 2023 (Applications will be accepted later, but funding may be limited)
  • Pay Processing Fee: $45
  • Completed files will be reviewed in the order in which they are received.  Financial aid is awarded on a first-come-first-serve basis by the beginning of each school year.
  • Please note:
    • Dual-household families may be asked to submit separate applications.
    • Not available prior to Kindergarten.
    • Financial aid may be limited mid-year transfers or the second semester

International Based Families:

Requests for need-based financial aid are considered only after a student has received a letter of acceptance from our school. Current Farragut families are given priority consideration for aid and awards are made contingent on good financial standing. Awards are revoked should the account balance not be satisfied by the end of the academic year. Financial aid is distributed at the beginning of each school year. It is not available for mid-year transfers or the second semester. 

Please be mindful that all Financial Aid packages are considered private and confidential. Families are asked to not share details regarding their Financial Aid package with students, families, and others. Aid awards may be immediately revoked. 

The award calculated is only a recommendation and does not necessarily represent the amount the family will be awarded. Admiral Farragut Academy’s Financial Aid Committee will discuss and decide on the amount awarded. This can take some time to process accordingly as it pertains to the season, budget, and number of students applying. Once a decision is made, the family will be notified by a letter from Farragut with the actual award amount. Due to the continuing increase in financial aid requests the committee’s philosophy is to “spread the funds” and help as many families as possible.

The NewDay USA Scholarship Program is focused on Gold Star Families, which is reserved for families of service members who have died in the line of duty. Secondary consideration will be to those families whose military members are 100% disabled.

About the nomination process:

  1.  The New Day Scholarship selection is competitive and nationwide with an annual deadline of July 1.
  2.  Priority consideration of nominated applicants is given to Gold Star families – Children of fallen armed service members killed in action.
  3.  Secondary consideration is given to children of Veterans 
  4.  The child must be entering 8th-11th grade.
  5.  Official student academic transcripts are required.
  6.  A copy of parent DD214 AND a copy of the Department of Veterans Affairs letter for the service-connected compensation award.
  7.  A letter describing the nature of the veteran’s disabilities and describe how combat-related activities led to them.
  8.  A copy of the past 2 years of tax returns.
  9.  A letter to describe the parents’ current occupation and how much of the household’s income is generated from that.
  10.  Student Essay and Personal Statement.
  11.  Three letters of recommendation (1 Academic Reference, 1 Community Service Reference, 1 Extra-Curricular Activity)

Frequently Asked Questions

Prospective students must complete the admissions process and be offered a letter of acceptance.  Financial Aid is is limited and budgeted by specific grades or enrollment types differently.  Financial Aid is completely disbursed by the beginning of each new school year.

Like many independent schools, Admiral Farragut uses the services of BlackBaud Financial Aid Management (https://studentfinancialaid.blackbaud.school/) a third-party administrator, to assist in determining a family’s ability to contribute to educational expenses. Our Financial Aid Committee uses this assessment and any additional information regarding special circumstances to make financial aid award decisions, taking into consideration our financial aid budget for any given year.

  • Awards may be adjusted if the family’s financial circumstances change.

Families whose children begin attending Admiral Farragut Academy without financial aid will be given consideration in subsequent years if financial circumstances change dramatically.

No, there is not. All families are expected to contribute towards the cost of tuition.
