Leadership Development

Forging Leaders of Character, Competence, and Commitment

At Farragut, we believe leadership is not simply taught—it is awakened. True leadership begins within, in the shaping of character, the strengthening of conviction, and the courage to serve a purpose greater than oneself. Every student is called to discover their inner compass, guided by values that stand firm no matter where life’s journey leads.

Drawing on our proud heritage as a military academy, we offer students of every age countless ways to grow as leaders—by stepping up in the classroom, on the athletic field, through student government, or in the cadet corps. In each setting, they learn that leadership is not about power, but about integrity. It is about listening, lifting others up, and choosing the harder right over the easier wrong.

The result is character formation that lasts far beyond graduation. Our students leave
Farragut ready to meet the world with courage, humility, and vision—leaders who don’t just chase success, but who inspire trust, spark change, and make a difference in every community they touch.

Inside every student is a leader in the making.

Each week, Farragut Upper School students step into Leader Lab—a signature program designed to form leaders from the inside out. Here, leadership is not defined by titles or positions, but by character, integrity, and the habits of who a person truly is. Through dynamic sessions led by faculty and visiting distinguished leaders, students gain wisdom from real-world experience, explore the challenges and responsibilities of leadership, and begin to see themselves as principled, capable leaders in the making. As Farragut strengthens and expands Leader Lab, it is becoming an integral part of our commitment to cultivate graduates ready to lead with courage, vision, and noble purpose.

The independence, individuality, and confidence I've gotten while at Farragut is what really prepared me to be the Regimental Commander. The leadership program at Farragut also made me into my own person as a teenager, which you don't really see very often at a lot of other schools.
