The original Admiral Farragut Academy campus was located on the banks of the Toms River in Pine Beach, New Jersey. It was founded as a college preparatory, military-style boarding school for boys in grades 6-12. During Farragut’s first 12 years, the school became so popular that a second campus was purchased in 1945 on the shores of Boca Ciega Bay in St. Petersburg, Florida. It is the only campus open today.

The school has changed and grown in many ways since 1933. Here is an overview.
• Signature Programs, include Aviation, Scuba, STEM, Marine Science, and more
• Coeducational, we now welcome all genders
• Kindergarten-12th Grade Day Private School, welcoming local students to our Lower and Upper Prep School
• 8th-12th Grade International Boarding School, welcoming boarding students from Florida, locations throughout the United States, and international students from all around the world
• Naval Science, all 8th-12th grade Upper School students are cadets in the mandatory NJROTC program

Our motto Developing Leaders Since 1933 still rings true.
Admiral Farragut Academy remains one of the only two Naval Honor Schools in the United States.
The NJROTC program is designated by an Act of Congress and reaccredited each year by the Department of the Navy. The southern campus continues many of the service school traditions, but most importantly focuses on character development to create well-rounded, resilient young men and women who are emotionally mature when they matriculate to college.
Speaking as a Farragut grad from the old Pine Beach NJ site (I remember Sheriff Norris) back in the early '40s, who went on to graduate from the Naval Academy in '44, spent 24 years on various Navy sea and shore duties before I retired, then earned two Masters degrees from Penn State, and taught for 12 years at the local community college, I cannot say enough for AFA and how they prepared me for life.
